Support Community News

Last month we announced that we may be closing down iLoveKent.net at the end of the year because we are losing money on the site. Why? Because there is so much going on in Kent (which is a very good thing!) that we’ve had to hire two part-time contributors to help provide content and manage social media.

We sent out a survey that many of you completed, and we learned a lot about our readers and what they want from a community news outlet like iLoveKent.net. As a result, we believe there is a place for iLoveKent.net, but we need your help to keep it going.

Here are four ways you can help us keep iLoveKent.net alive:

(1) Make a one-time donation to help cover costs. Any amount – $5, $10, $25, $100 or more – will help, and we’ll use all proceeds to invest in the site and provide you with quality, local news content.

(2) Share our website and social media posts with family, friends and business associates, The more exposure we get, the more likely we are to attract sponsors and advertisers. Posts on our website are easy to share. Each article has sharing buttons at the top. On social media, you can share or retweet our posts, tag us, and use relevant hashtags (#kenthistory, #kentflavors, #kentwa, #ilovekentwa, #experiencekent, #kentsports, #kentevent, etc.) to share Kent, Washington with the world.

(3) Contribute content by sending us your non-commercial calendar entries (e.g., craft fairs, school plays, club meetings, etc.) and make suggestions for stories, community business profiles, individual community profiles and more.

(4) Encourage Kent businesses to support iLoveKent.net through affordable advertising opportunities and sponsorships. We need revenue to cover the costs of the website and to pay our two part-time contributors. I am willing to donate my time to the site, but I can’t expect my contributors to do the same.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for all of your kind notes, messages and posts. Words cannot express how grateful we are that you appreciate what we do.
