Grant will total $188,580 over four years

The Kent Police Department and the Kent Drug Free Coalition are pleased to announce they have received the Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking (STOP) Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

Kent Police Department Receives Federal Grant to Prevent Underage DrinkingThe Grant Funding is over a four-year period for $47,145 per year, totaling $188,580 over four years.  STOP grant funds will be used to support underage drinking prevention strategies, directed for student’s grades 6-12, as well as community-based strategies such as alcohol compliance checks of local on and off site alcohol establishments.

“We are excited to help students in Kent continue to make healthy and good choices to not drink alcohol and to be positive role models in our community” stated Dana Ralph, Director of the Kent Drug Free Coalition.
