65-year-old driver of a motorcycle died as a result of his injuries. Intoxication may have been a factor.

The Kent Police Department is investigating a fatality collision involving a motorcycle that occurred in the 24000 block of Pacific Hwy S.

At 6:48 AM this morning, Kent officers were dispatched to a traffic collision in the 24000 block of Pacific Hwy S. Initial reports indicate that the offending driver was traveling northbound on Pacific Hwy S.

A 61-year-old Auburn male driver attempted to merge into the next northbound lane to the right, before the intersection, and collided with a motorcycle traveling in that lane. The 65-year-old Des Moines man riding the motorcycle was thrown from his motorcycle sustaining injuries that caused his death.

Kent Police Traffic investigators responded to the scene and are currently investigating the circumstances that contributed to the collision. The offending driver has been arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide. Preliminary indications suggest intoxication may have been a factor.
