Patio fire extends into home’s attic. No injuries reported.

Kent News: An early morning house fire displaces four Kent residents.Four people have been displaced after a patio fire extended into the attic space of their home in the 23700 block of 160th Ave. SE in Kent.

Firefighters from the Puget Sound and Maple Valley Fire Departments reported being able to see the fire’s glow from several blocks away while responding at 1:13 AM. When they arrived on they scene, they found fire coming from the back and roof of the two-story home.

The single occupant home at the time of the fire was able to get out safely on his own. There were no reported injuries.

This fire required firefighters to lay over 1,000 feet of large diameter fire hose down a long private road and driveway. To keep up adequate water pressure, three engines were used along the length of hose, each receiving and repumping the water to the next engine.

A fire investigator is currently on location to determine the cause of the fire. [Source: Puget Sound Fire]
