Congrats to the Meeker Middle School Cheerleading Team, which won three Washington State Cheer Coaches Association (WSCCA) State Championship titles on Feb. 3, 2018, at Kentwood High School.

In addition to defending their 2017 championship title for the traditional category, Meeker also placed first in the new game day and stomp categories introduced by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) this year.

  • Game Day: The game day category includes a band dance, time-out cheer, and a fight song.
  • Stomp: The stomp category is a combination of traditional cheer, step, and hip-hop dancing.
  • Traditional: The traditional category focuses on stunting, tumbling, and crowd leading.

As part of the team, the eighteen seventh and eighth grade students representing Meeker exemplify excellence on and off the mat as they boast a 3.47 grade point average (GPA) while also participating in leadership, music, newspaper, yearbook, and completing community services projects.

The Meeker Cheerleading Team is coached by Lisa Cabalquinto, who is joined by assistant coaches Mia Feagin and Samantha Thompson.
