South King Fire & Rescue – along with several other agencies – had a busy night Sunday, Oct. 28, when they rescued a 30-year old woman from a car that had been driven into Puget Sound at the Redondo Boat Launch in Des Moines.
The incident was first reported at around 7 p.m.
Rescue swimmers located the victim about 150 yards off shore, and she was taken to Harborview Medical Center after being treated at the scene. She had been in the water for around 20 minutes, and her current condition is unknown.
At one point a fully clothed Des Moines officer jumped into the water to assist the woman.
Additional searches were conducted around the submerged vehicle, a Lexus that was later towed out of the water.
Also assisting were SKFR Marine 67, Des Moines Police, King County Medic One, Renton Fire, and Valley Fire.
“Strong work by all agencies involved to make this a successful rescue,” SKF&R said via a Tweet.
“Our thoughts are with everyone involved as investigations move forward,” Des Moines Police added.
