Kent Police is reporting of an officer-involved shooting in the 14900-15200 blocks of Kent-Kangley Road Thursday afternoon, Dec. 6.

Police say that just before 3 p.m., Officers and Detectives were conducting an investigation involving a known 33-year old male suspect who had outstanding felony warrants, including a Department of Corrections escape warrant and a felony warrant for narcotics.

Here’s more info from Kent PD:

The suspect was located in the area of the 14900 block of Kent-Kangley Road.
Officers and Detectives made contact with the suspect, who was seated in a vehicle.
The suspect resisted arrest and attempted to flee by using his vehicle to ram police vehicles.
The confrontation resulted in the suspect being shot two times.
Once Officers had control of the suspect they immediately initiated lifesaving efforts to stabilize him until medics arrived. He was then transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
The involved Officer was not injured in the incident.

“At this time we are not releasing the officer’s name; however, he has been with the department for 18 years,” police said in a statement. “He has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for officers involved in critical incidents.”

Chief Padilla has requested The Valley Investigative Team to conduct an independent third party investigation.

Kent-Kangley Road was closed for a while between 144th and 152nd in both directions.
