UPDATE Feb. 10, 2019: The City of Kent Severe Weather Shelter is extending activation through Monday morning, Feb. 11.

Wednesday, February 6 – Sunday, February 10, 2019

  • 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Avenue South, Kent, WA

  • 9 p.m.: Check-in and registration
  • 7 a.m.: Shelter closes; clients must leave for the day.

Because of the snow and cold weather coming our way, we are extending the severe weather shelter through Monday morning, February 10 at 7 a.m. The shelter is operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church. With more severe winter weather coming our way, we may extend shelter hours. If so, we will let you know when that decision is made.

Priority will be given to homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles, but the shelter will also be available for single women and men. Doors for the Severe Weather Shelter will open at 9 p.m. each evening. Clients must register at the door. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of all clients and staff and the broader community will apply.

NOTE: The HOME men’s shelter located at Kent United Methodist (11010 SE 248th St.) will move to Kent Lutheran Church through Monday morning to consolidate resources and staffing.

Please help us share this information with the community, especially with those who could benefit the most from the shelter’s activation. Thanks to all of our generous volunteers, donors and staff who are helping care for our community during the storm.
