This week, Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla discussed the department’s new body cam program – which should be implemented by this coming Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 – with Mayor Dana Ralph.

“I promised you that I would bring body worn cameras to Kent and that promise has become a reality,” the Mayor said in her weekly newsletter. “Over the last several months, our Kent Police Department has been testing body worn cameras, and are now in the process of implementing 105 of them.”

“The body worn cameras provide an extra level of transparency and protection between our police officers and the public,” Ralph added. “I am very excited to see this program in place.”
