Kent, Covington chambers hosting free quiz style forum for legislative candidates

Voters can hear directly from candidates seeking to represent Washington’s 5th, 33rd and 47th legislative districts at a free Candidate Showcase on Tuesday night, Oct. 6, hosted by the Kent and Covington chambers of commerce at Green River College’s Kent campus.
The 2026 event will feature timed questions and conversations about issues affecting South King County businesses, families and communities, according to the chambers.
The program is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
“This is not a traditional political debate,” the chambers said in their announcement.
Instead, candidates will take part in a quiz format intended to help voters learn about their positions through a discussion organizers describe as serious, respectful and accessible.
Potential topics include public safety, state budgeting, government accountability, homelessness, community services and natural disaster preparedness. Questions also may address business issues, workforce development and candidates’ knowledge of local communities.
The chambers describe the showcase as a nonpartisan voter education event and say participation does not constitute an endorsement.
“All candidates will be provided a fair and equitable opportunity to participate,” the announcement states.
Residents, business leaders, chamber members, employees and students are encouraged to attend. Admission is free, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
The event will take place in Rooms 282/283 at Green River College’s Kent campus, 417 Ramsay Way, Suite 112 (map below).
