Annual Fishing Experience returns to Kent Saturday, May 16 with free family event

The Kent Parks Department, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kent, is inviting families to its annual Fishing Experience, a free youth-focused outdoor event set for Saturday, May 16 at the Old Fishing Hole in Kent.
The event will take place at 24945 Frager Road (map below), where children will have an opportunity to learn fishing skills and spend time outdoors in a structured setting, according to event organizers.
“Get ready for a day of fun, learning, and outdoor adventure at the 2026 Fishing Experience,” organizers said in event materials. “This beloved annual event will be held on Saturday, May 16 at Old Fishing Hole Park.”
While participation is free, registration is required and spots are limited. Organizers said the final day to register is Wednesday, May 13, or sooner if the event fills. Each child is limited to one registration to ensure fairness, and duplicate registrations will be removed.
The event will feature hands on fishing lessons led by experienced guides, opportunities to catch trout in a safe and supportive environment, and instruction on water safety and environmental care. All equipment will be provided.
Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled time for check in.
