Property and business owners in the Historic Downtown Kent District can apply through March 1, 2026, for façade improvement grants aimed at enhancing building appearance and street level appeal, the Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) announced.

The grant program offers a total budget of $20,000 this year, with awards available in any amount within that total, including the possibility of a single grant covering the full budget.

Funding support is provided by WAFd Bank and 4Culture, according to the KDP.

Eligible projects include painting, signage, lighting, awnings, artistic installations, landscaping and other exterior improvements that enhance a building’s curb appeal. Structural changes or repairs that address the aesthetic or historical integrity of a building may also be considered, according to program guidelines.

Details on eligibility requirements, project goals and exclusions, along with the application form, are available on the KDP website at downtownkentwa.com/facade-improvement-grant.

During the 2025 grant cycle, three recipients completed improvements that included new signage, fresh paint and landscaping elements, resulting in more welcoming entrances, the organization said.
