kent-washington-logoThe City of Kent is looking for volunteers to serve on various boards and commissions. The city will have multiple vacancies, effective December 31. The vacancies include:

Arts Commission: One four-year term. The 14-member commission meets the second Tuesday of each month to discuss cultural opportunities and provide guidance on arts funding and programming in Kent.

Bicycle Advisory Board: Eight two-year terms. The 11-member board meets the last Monday of each month to discuss and make recommendations on policies that support non-motorized travel.

Human Services Commission: One one-year term for a youth representative. The ten-member commission meets the fourth Thursday of each month to review social services issues, funding applications and opportunities to promote community awareness of human service needs.

Land Use and Planning Board: Two three-year terms. The seven-member board meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month to review City Code updates, development regulations, comprehensive plan updates and other long-term land use planning topics.  

Parks and Recreation Commission: Four three-year terms, and one year-long term for a high school student. The 16-member commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month to discuss and provide guidance on parks and trails planning, priorities for land/facilities acquisition, and the design and operation of parks programs and facilities.

The deadline for applications is Friday, December 9 at 5 PM. Applications can be found online at KentWa.gov under the Boards and Commissions link. Applications are available under the individual boards and commissions pages.
