Verbal Dispute Escalates Into Murder-Suicide

–UPDATE: 12/20/16–The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the couple as Karen Perez-Palencia, 24, and Erick Orteno-Perez, 24 as victims in the murder-suicide that occurred Sunday night. Perez-Palencia died of multiple gunshot wounds; Orteno-Perez died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.–

Kent Police are investigating a shooting with one male and one female dead and one female injured.

Around 7 PM last night, officers responded to the 20400 block of 92nd Ave South for a report of a shooting. When they arrived they discovered a female had been shot and was dead at the scene. They also discovered a male had been shot and was unconscious, and another female had a gunshot wound to her leg.

Preliminary information is that a verbal dispute escalated and the 24-year-old male shot the 24-year-old female, killing her. The male then shot the other female in the leg before turning the gun on himself. Lifesaving efforts were made, but the male died of his injuries.

Kent Police say there are no other suspects at this time. Detectives are gathering information from witnesses and are collecting evidence from the scene, trying to clarify the circumstances that led to this shooting.

KING5 did a story on the shooting last night. According to the KING5 story, the woman with the gunshot wound is in her 40s and is being treated at Harborview in Seattle. Other people were in the home at the time of the shootings, but no one else was injured.
