The man found dead in brush in Kent on Sunday, Jan. 25 has been identified as Damonte James, a 33-year-old Kent resident who died from multiple stab wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

As we previously reported, James’ body was found outdoors near the intersection of Willis Street and 74th Ave South, on the south leg of Interurban Trail, officials said.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide, with the cause of death listed as multiple stab wounds.

No additional details about the circumstances of the killing or possible suspects were released.

Kent Police previously said officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of a deceased person in the brush, and investigators observed injuries consistent with a homicide.

The Kent Police Department remains the investigating agency.
