A 57-year-old Renton man was killed Thursday evening, May 28, after a motorcycle collided with a vehicle in Kent, according to the Kent Police Department.
Officers and Puget Sound Fire personnel were dispatched at about 5:08 p.m. to the 23600 block of 104th Avenue SE (map below) following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car.
When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist suffering from significant injuries and immediately began lifesaving efforts, according to police. Firefighters and medics from Puget Sound Fire took over medical care upon arrival, but sadly, the motorcyclist died at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound on 104th Avenue SE at a high rate of speed and was “popping wheelies” before the collision.
According to police, the driver of the other vehicle was traveling southbound on 104th Avenue SE and was turning left onto 236th Place when the motorcycle struck the automobile.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
Investigators tentatively identified the deceased motorcyclist as a 57-year-old Renton man.
A records check conducted during the investigation determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen, according to police.
The Kent Police Traffic Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Sadly, this vehicle vs motorcycle accident has resulted in one fatality. Northbound 104th Avenue SE will be closed for 2 to 3 hours while Kent PD investigates.
