A 46-year-old Kent man was taken into custody after a fatal stabbing late Thursday night at an apartment complex in Kent, according to the Kent Police Department.

Police responded just before midnight June 4 to reports of a stabbing at the Grandview Apartments, 3900 Veterans Drive, in front of Building B (map below). When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground without a pulse, police said.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was still inside a nearby residence. Officers searched the area, located the suspect and took him into custody without incident, according to police.

Officers provided lifesaving medical aid to the victim until firefighters and paramedics arrived, but sadly, the man did not survive, police said.

The victim was identified by police as a 26-year-old Kent man who was known to the suspect and other residents at the apartment complex.

According to the Kent Police Department, the incident was not random and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.

Kent detectives are continuing to investigate the homicide.
