The City of Kent is inviting residents to celebrate Independence Day with a free Fourth of July Splash event at Lake Meridian Park featuring live music, food trucks and a fireworks display.

The festivities will be held Saturday, July 4, at Lake Meridian Park, 14800 S.E. 272nd Street (map below).

Event activities will run from 5 to 10 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.

Park gates will open and a free shuttle service will begin operating at 3 p.m., according to the city. Officials noted that there will be no vehicle loading or unloading at Lake Meridian Park this year, and no stopping or drop-offs will be permitted. ADA parking will be available at the park.

In addition to the fireworks show, attendees can enjoy live music and food trucks from 5 to 10 p.m.

The city said all park gates will be locked at midnight.
