Puget Sound Fire says that a fire at the main park building at Lake Meridian early Thursday morning (June 28) was arson.
There were no injuries, but investigators concluded that the blaze was intentionally set.
Westbound Kent-Kangley Road was closed for a while.
No word yet on the extent of damages to the building, but initial reports are that most damage was to the lifeguard station.
Lake Meridian Park is where the 4th of July Splash will take place, and the city said that despite this setback, the show will go on:
“Lake Meridian’s newly remodeled bathrooms and lifeguard building were damaged in a fire on the evening of June 27.
The Fourth of July Splash will go on as scheduled.”
