The city of Kent has one opening on its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) and is looking for a hotelier interested in tourism-related activities to fill a three-year term.

This committee is responsible for recommending awards from the City’s Lodging Tax Account, a fund created through a four percent state tax on hotel, motel or bed and breakfast stays. These funds can be used to support projects to promote tourism, for event operations and for marketing Kent as a great place to do business.  In 2017, the committee awarded over $325,000 in lodging tax revenue grants to support local projects and events as well as marketing services to promote Kent across the Pacific Northwest.

Volunteers on LTAC review funding proposals and recommend award allocations to the city council, review the success of those completed events or programs, review proposals from the marketing consultant and propose changes to the marketing program. This structure of the committee is defined by RCW 67.28 and Kent Municipal Code 2.54; eight committee members serve three-year terms, and meet six times per year.

Applications may be submitted online and are available at KentWA.gov under the Boards and Commissions link.

All applications are due by Monday, April 30, 2018 at 5 p.m.<
