The 2025 election season kicked off on Friday, May 9, with eleven candidates vying for four open positions, with three incumbents seeking re-election and eight others aiming to bring fresh perspectives to the council.

The biggest competition will be in Position 6, held by incumbent Brenda Fincher, who is not running for reelection. This seat has seven candidates running for it.

The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with the top two vote-getters moving on to the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Incumbent Mayor Dana Ralph is running unopposed, and ten candidates are running for three open seats on the Kent City Council (Positions 2, 4 & 6, including two incumbents).

City of Kent, Mayor:

  • Dana Ralph*: Incumbent Mayor, currently serving her second term since being re-elected in 2021.

City of Kent, Council Position No. 2:

  • Satwinder Kaur*: Current Kent City Council President who has been a councilmember since 2018.
  • Neet Grewal: Grewal is a University of Washington graduate with a Bachelors degreee in Political Science.

City of Kent, Council Position No. 4:

  • Toni Troutner*: Incumbent for Council Position No. 4, seeking re-election. She has served on the Kent City Council since 2018.

City of Kent, Council Position No. 6:

  • Tod Oyefeso: As of now, there is limited publicly available information regarding his professional background or campaign platform. 
  • Starre Quiñones: As of now, there is limited publicly available information regarding her professional background or campaign platform.
  • Andy Song: Licensed mental health therapist and board-certified behavior analyst, currently serving as the Clinical Director and co-owner of a counseling clinic. 
  • Jamie Lee: Lifelong resident, small business owner and licensed esthetician who operates a spa in downtown Kent.
  • RoseLynne P McCarter: Shelter counselor at New Horizons Ministries in Seattle, providing support to youth experiencing homelessness. 
  • Logan Evans: From his website: “A teacher, a neighbor, and someone  who believes Kent’s hardest-working families deserve to feel safe, heard, and hopeful.”
  • Sharn Shoker: A lifelong resident of Kent, Washington, Shoker is a mother and policy leader with a background in public service.
