The Kent Police Department is investigating a fatality collision that occurred in the area of the 25300 block of Reith Road (map below) Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, just after 5:30 a.m.

Upon Kent Police and Fire units arriving, they performed life-saving efforts to an involved driver, a 25-year old Kent resident. Although efforts were made, the man died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the collision.

The other driver, a 44-year old Port Orchard resident, was stabilized and transported to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

There were no other occupants in the vehicles. The identity of the deceased driver is not being released at this time.

Preliminary information suggests that the driver of the pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Reith Road wherein the driver of the sedan made a left turn in front of the pickup. Subsequently, the pickup struck the passenger side of the sedan, which caused the sedan to be impacted into a guardrail on the east side of the roadway.

Investigators are stating drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor; however the roadway was dark, rainy, and wet this morning.

Kent Police Traffic investigators responded to the scene and are currently investigating the circumstances that resulted in this tragedy. The investigation is still underway.
