Kent Police Department remains the lead agency in the investigation

This morning Commander Jarod Kasner of the Kent Police Department said they do not have any new information to release in the investigation of the non-fatal shooting of a 39-year-old Sikh man at his home last Friday. They are not releasing any information about the victim. Other sources have said the victim wishes to remain anonymous at this time.

The Kent Police Department has reached out to the local FBI office and other local law enforcement agencies to apprise them of the crime and to access resources those agencies may be able to provide. The Kent Police Department remains the lead agency in the investigation. They are being assisted and supported by the FBI. The FBI released a statement about their involvement:

“The FBI’s Seattle Field Office, in conjunction with the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, has opened a civil rights investigation into the March 3rd shooting incident in Kent, Washington. The FBI is working with the Kent Police Department and will collect all available facts and evidence to determine if there is a federal civil rights violation. As this is an ongoing investigation we are not able to comment further at this time.”

[Edited to delete information about the Saturday afternoon peace rally.]
