Interview with Brian Lott: A New Vision for Washington’s 47th District

In a recent interview, we sat down with Brian Lott, the candidate for State Representative in Washington’s 47th District, Position 2, to discuss his motivations, plans, and the changes he envisions for the communities of Kent, Auburn and Covington.

Brian, can you tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to run for State Representative?

Brian Lott: Absolutely. I grew up in Washington, and my experiences, especially the lessons I learned from my grandfather, have deeply influenced my values and perspective. My grandfather instilled in me a respect for our natural resources and the importance of hard work and community. After spending many years in different parts of the country, my wife and I chose to settle in Auburn. We’ve put a lot of work into our home and love our neighborhood. I started my career in project management and eventually ran a business that employed 150 people. My drive to solve problems and improve our community led me to run for State Representative. I believe in pragmatic, common-sense solutions and want to bring that approach to government.

What are the key issues you are focusing on in your campaign?

Brian Lott: There are several critical areas I’m focusing on:

  1. Public Safety: I support increasing funding for police departments to ensure they have the resources and training necessary to protect our community effectively. I also advocate for tougher penalties for violent criminals and community policing programs to build trust between law enforcement and residents.
  2. Homelessness: The current approaches to homelessness have not been effective. We need to focus on accountability, efficiency, and compassion. This includes addressing the root causes like mental illness and substance abuse, and reallocating funds to programs that demonstrate measurable success.
  3. Affordable Housing: To tackle the housing crisis, I propose zoning reforms and reducing bureaucratic red tape to expedite construction.
  4. Economic Growth and Job Creation: My plan includes reducing taxes and unnecessary regulations that burden small businesses, investing in infrastructure, and implementing policies to attract and retain businesses in our district.

How do you plan to address the economic challenges faced by your district?

Brian Lott: Economic growth is a top priority. I advocate for reducing taxes and regulations that hinder small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. Investing in infrastructure projects is also crucial—things like road repairs and bridge upgrades not only improve our daily lives but also create jobs. Additionally, we need to implement policies that provide incentives for businesses to relocate to and remain in our district, such as tax credits and streamlined permitting processes.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

Brian Lott: My extensive experience in project management and running a successful business gives me a unique perspective on problem-solving and efficiency. I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get to work, and I have a proven track record of bringing diverse stakeholders together to find solutions that work for everyone. My commitment to accountability and practical solutions, coupled with my deep love for our community, sets me apart. I’m not just talking about change—I have the experience and dedication to make it happen.

Any final thoughts you’d like to share with voters?

Brian Lott: I am dedicated to serving our community and ensuring it lives up to its full potential. I am asking for your vote so that together we can make meaningful changes that benefit everyone in the 47th District. Let’s bring common sense back to government and create a brighter future for our community.
