DAWN Rising – a Kent-based nonprofit dedicated to assisting survivors of domestic violence – recently received a donation of new laptops from Comcast.
The contribution is helping DAWN Rising to remove obstacles to safety, opportunity, and independence by providing survivors with the technology they need to rebuild their lives.
“Comcast’s support has been truly life-changing for the survivors we serve and a powerful boost for the advocates who walk alongside them each day,” said Gina Finley, Executive Director, DAWN Rising. “In our line of work, resources are often limited, and the needs are great. Advocates are passionate and dedicated, but without the right tools, helping survivors overcome barriers can feel discouraging and overwhelming. Their donation has been a practical, meaningful answer to that challenge. The laptops you provided have opened doors for survivors—whether they’re applying for jobs, completing schoolwork, or simply having a reliable way to communicate and access information. These are basic tools that many of us take for granted, but to the individuals we serve, they are steppingstones toward independence and stability.”
Comcast’s donation is part of its ongoing commitment to digital opportunity, ensuring underserved communities have the tools needed for education, employment, and personal growth. Comcast is helping DAWN Rising create pathways to self-sufficiency and long-term stability by providing survivors with access to secure communication tools and online resources.
In addition to laptop donations, Comcast is offering free digital literacy workshops. These workshops cover a range of topics, from basic computer skills to online safety, empowering individuals with the skills needed to navigate the online world safely, apply for jobs, and engage with critical support systems.
