Kent Police are investigating a homicide after patrol officers found a deceased man in the brush Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 2026 in the 25400 block of 74th Ave South (map below), according to the Kent Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at about 11:52 a.m. Sunday after a 911 caller reported a deceased person in the area. Multiple officers responded and located an adult male who was obviously deceased, police said.
Officers observed injuries that appeared consistent with a homicide and requested assistance from the King County Medical Examiner Office, which took custody of the body at the scene. The medical examiner later confirmed the death was a homicide.
The Kent Police Detective Unit responded and took over the investigation. Initial attempts to identify the victim were unsuccessful, but he has since been identified as a 33-year-old Kent resident, police said.
At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community, according to police.
