One of the perks that the City of Kent’s Neighborhood Program offers is matching grant funds to Neighborhood Councils who have been formally recognized by the city.

Projects eligible for grant funding on a competitive basis can include entrance signs, landscaping or beautification in common areas, benches, walkways or public art such as a mural. A dollar-for-dollar match is required by the community and should come from volunteer labor, cash, donated professional services, materials or supplies.

Grant projects are evaluated by the Grant Review Team and selected based on criteria including neighborhood participation, benefit to the public, planning, scope of work and maintenance of project after completion.

Matching grant applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2018.
