On Friday night, June 28 at around 9 p.m., a motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a Kent Police SUV in the intersection of SE 256th Street and 137th Way SE (map below).

Police say that as the Officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, a 20-year old motorcyclist collided with the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle. The officer exited his vehicle to provide aid to the downed motorcyclist and radioed for assistance. Fire personnel arrived to assist with lifesaving efforts, but the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The officer was uninjured and has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for officers involved in critical incidents.

At this time police are not releasing the name of the victim nor the officer.

King County Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Detectives were called to conduct a thorough and third party independent investigation of this incident. Their investigation will provide further details of the circumstances of the collision.
