Candidates for Port of Seattle Commission and Washington’s 33rd Legislative District will share the stage Wednesday, Oct. 22, for a community forum focused on airport-related issues and neighborhood concerns.
The forum, organized by the SeaTac Airport Community Coalition for Justice, will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in downtown Burien.
Residents can attend in person or join virtually via Zoom.
“We have worked hard to make everyone’s safety a priority at these events,” organizers said. “At every location, only registered attendees will be permitted in the space. There will be food.”

Organizers say the discussion will center on how airport noise, air pollution, and economic development tied to Sea-Tac Airport affect South King County families.
Candidates will also be asked about environmental justice, housing, jobs, and community health.
“State leaders directly impact local resources and your quality of life,” organizers wrote in event materials. “People who live here deal with loud noise and air pollution from Sea-Tac Airport. Lawmakers and Port leaders can help find solutions, like regulating air quality and noise levels.”
Port Commissioners set policies on airport operations, business opportunities, and mitigation funds, while state legislators determine budgets that shape daily life, including air quality standards, affordable housing, and funding for noise insulation in impacted neighborhoods.
Forum themes include environmental and health justice, regulatory coordination, workforce access, community engagement, and funding challenges.
The event is organized by a coalition of South King County and Seattle-area groups, including the Beacon Hill Council, El Centro de la Raza, and the Coalition of Refugees & Communities of Color.
