The Kent Police Department is encouraging neighborhoods across the city to register for National Night Out, an annual community building event focused on strengthening relationships between residents and public safety agencies.
This year’s National Night Out will be held Tuesday night, Aug. 4, according to the department.
Kent Police said the event is designed to bring neighbors together, promote community safety and create opportunities for residents to connect with one another.
“National Night Out is all about strengthening our community, promoting safety and having a great time together,” the department said in an announcement encouraging participation.
Neighborhoods interested in hosting an event can register through the city’s National Night Out website.
The registration deadline is Friday, July 24.
The Kent Police Department is also providing ideas and resources to help residents organize gatherings and activities in their neighborhoods.
National Night Out events are held in communities across the country and typically include neighborhood gatherings that encourage crime prevention awareness, community engagement and partnerships between residents and local law enforcement.
