Sunrise Elementary School teacher Tiffany Evenstad was surprised with a ‘Symetra Hero in the Classroom Award’ during a school assembly on Sept. 7.
She received $2,000 for classroom books and supplies, and will be honored during the Seattle Seahawks home game on Sunday, Sept. 23.
Evenstad was chosen for playing an inspirational role in her students’ lives.
“Ms. Evenstad has forever left an impact on [my son’s] education and overall self-esteem,” said parent Gina Chau, who nominated Evenstad for the award. “She was able to transform this formerly shy and reserved young student into an active, participating learner that felt confident in sharing his ideas and answers in the classroom.”
“Ms. Evenstad’s passion for teaching truly shows through her actions,” Chau continued. “Seeing my son blossom into a confident child has meant a great deal to me as a parent.”
