Kent Youth and Family Services has sold its Watson Manor property, a 10-unit housing community, to strengthen its finances and support expanded services across South King County, the nonprofit announced.
Current residents will not be displaced, and transitional housing services will continue, according to the organization. Catholic Community Services, the property’s existing tenant, will remain the operator under the new ownership.
“The sale of Watson Manor was a thoughtful, strategic decision that positions KYFS for continued growth and long-term sustainability,” said Omar Malik, executive director of Kent Youth and Family Services.
The nonprofit said proceeds will support its programs for children, young people and families. The announcement did not identify the buyer or disclose the sale price.
“By reinvesting these resources into our mission, we can strengthen our financial position and sustainably expand services to continue meeting the evolving needs of children, youth, and families in our community,” Malik said.
The organization said its priorities include expanding access to behavioral health care, early childhood education, after school and summer programming, and family support services. It described the sale as part of a broader strategy to manage its resources and sustain those services.
Founded in 1970, Kent Youth and Family Services provides mental health counseling, early childhood education, youth development programs and substance use prevention services. More information is available at kyfs.org.
