Displays and hands-on activities to be featured
Each year during the fourth weekend in June, members of the Amateur Radio Relay League or “ham” radio operators as they are often known, take part in Amateur Radio Field Day.
The Puget Sound RFA’s Communication Support Team will be hosting their version of this annual event on June 24, 2017, and would like to invite the public to attend and participate.
The event will feature displays and hands-on activities designed to introduce the public to ham radio and disaster preparedness. The displays include:
- King County Medic One
- Tri-Med Ambulance
- Ham radio demonstrations
- Treasure hunt
- Drone demonstrations
Amateur radio is a wireless radio system that allows users to communicate worldwide. These licensed users can be an invaluable resource during a disaster or other large scale event. There are over 725,000 licensed radio operators in the United States.
