A 39-year-old Issaquah man wanted by Seattle Police for Rape of a Child in the Second Degree was arrested last week by Kent patrol officers following a tip from a witness.
Seattle Police had previously attempted to locate the suspect at his workplace in the Kent Valley, but he was not present.
A short time later, a community member called 911 to report the suspect’s location, prompting a swift response from Kent officers.
Officer Piek and his crewmate contacted the suspect at the reported location and took him into custody without incident, police said.
“We say it all the time, but we will say it again… when we partner with the community, criminals go to jail,” Kent Police said in a statement.
The man was wanted on a felony warrant connected to an open Rape 2 of a Child case being investigated by the Seattle Police Department. His name has not yet been released publicly.
Seattle Police have taken over the investigation and are coordinating with prosecutors.
