The City of Kent is inviting residents to enjoy a summer filled with FREE live entertainment, with three outdoor performance series offering music and family activities throughout July and August.

The lineup starts this Wednesday, July 8 and includes:

  • Wednesday Picnic Performances for children at West Fenwick Park
  • Wednesday evening Summer Sounds concerts at Kent Station
  • Thursday evening Music in the Meadow concerts at Morrill Meadows Park

The Wednesday Picnic Performances, presented by Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services, will run from Noon to 1 p.m. at West Fenwick Park, 3808 Reith Road, in conjunction with the Kent Parks Summer Playgrounds program.

In addition to live performances, families can enjoy water games, carnival style activities, sno cones and sports.

Wednesday Picnic Shows for Kids at Noon:

  • July 8: Ants, Ants, Ants, featuring family music inspired by 1970s era Sesame Street and Schoolhouse Rock!
  • July 15: Mister G, a Latin Grammy Award winning artist, author and educator. The performance is sponsored by Bright Horizons at Centerpoint.
  • July 22: Harmonica Pocket, performing indie acoustic folk music for families.
  • July 29: Fyutch, featuring family friendly hip hop, soul, R&B and pop.
  • Aug. 5: 123 Andrés, whose interactive performances encourage audiences to dance, sing and learn.

Wednesday evenings will feature the Kent Station Summer Sounds series from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kent Station, 417 Ramsay Way.

Kent Station Lineup, Wednesday Nights 6–8 p.m.:

  • July 8: Darren Motamedy, a Kent native and smooth jazz saxophonist.
  • July 15: Nite Wave 80’s Nite, performing New Wave favorites.
  • July 22: Oncore featuring the Platinum Horns, performing Top 40, pop and R&B hits.
  • July 29: Slim Wizzy, featuring country, rock and blues.
  • Aug. 5: School of Rock Kent, with students performing music spanning more than 70 years of rock and roll.

The Music in the Meadow series, also presented by Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services, will be held Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Morrill Meadows Park, 10600 SE 248th St., with food vendors available at each concert.

  • July 9: Taken by the Sky, a Fleetwood Mac tribute, with food from Dirty Dawgz and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.
  • July 16: Code Beebe & the Crooks, with Kettle Beach Concessions and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.
  • July 23: Paperback Writer, a Beatles tribute, with Dirty Dawgz and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.
  • July 30: The West Coast Feed, performing soul music and popular covers, with Dirty Dawgz and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.
  • Aug. 6: Hell’s Belles, an all female AC/DC tribute band, with food from the Swaggn Wagon and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.
  • Aug. 13: The Scrunchies, an 80s cover band, with the Swaggn Wagon and KONA Ice of Maple Valley.

All events are FREE and are presented by the City of Kent or Kent Station.
