The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) is inviting residents to donate unwanted fabric and yarn to Maggie’s on Meeker, where volunteers will transform the materials into handmade items for sale benefiting charitable organizations.
The donation effort, called Kraft Closet Clean Up, accepts fabric and yarn at Maggie’s on Meeker, 307 W. Meeker Street in Kent, according to the KDP.
Proceeds from the handmade items will benefit Sweats for Veterans, Bundles for Babies and the Greater Kent Historical Museum, the partnership said. Apron sales are scheduled to return from October through December.
Residents who want to support the effort but do not have fabric to donate can purchase materials from Running Stitch Fabrics and contribute them. The option supports both the donation project and a local small business.
“There’s a passionate team of volunteers who will put it good use turning it into items for sale benefiting the organizations listed in the flyer below,” organizers said.
