The City of Kent’s Public Works’ crews were recently touted in a blog post by the city for their hard work during last Thursday’s (Feb. 22) snowstorm.
The City says that crews worked around the clock to ensure drivers a safe commute during the ice and snow event.
Here are highlights of what the crew had to do on Feb. 22, 2018:
- 2,200 gallons of de-icer used
- 1,200 pounds of salt
- 172 tons of sand*
- 50 hours of overtime
- 265 regular hours
- James Street, one of our city’s steepest hills, never closed
- Total cost to keep the roads clear: $27,500
“A big thank you to our Public Works crews for making our roads safe and to our residents for their patience during the storm,” the City said.
*Crews will sweep up the sand once they are fairly certain we won’t have another snow event.
