A suspected drunk driver was arrested Friday night, June 13, 2025 after crashing into an excavator in a construction zone on SR 516 near I-5, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Trooper Rick Johnson said the incident occurred just before 11 p.m. when the driver entered the active work zone and struck heavy equipment.
After the crash, the driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained by construction workers at the scene.
