Residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications during Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Kent.
According to the Kent Police Department, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police station on 4th Ave South (map below), with an alternate drop off location in the City Hall parking garage if weather conditions require.
The effort is part of a partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration aimed at reducing access to unused medications that can lead to misuse and addiction.
“The majority of opioid addictions start with prescription pills found in medicine cabinets at home,” according to event information provided by Kent Police.
Officials said pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor’s supervision. They added that a majority of people who misuse prescription medications obtain them from family members or friends.
The drop off process is designed to be quick and easy, and residents are encouraged to bring any unused or expired medications for safe disposal.
