“I sit at the edge of this town, with nothing but what’s left of forever in front of me. My gypsy soul wants to run; to love along the way and never look back. But, my grounded heart, with its tangled surrender, keeps me from spreading footsteps on the moon.”
– Jay Long
Man…I love words like this. I love gypsy souls and I understand tangled surrenders. I can imagine footsteps on the moon while sitting on the edge of this town with nothing but what’s left of forever in front of me.
I think words were invented to be used like this. I can think of no higher purpose than to make us feel and see and dream and understand some things better. We will never understand all of it, but even this understanding has some peace and freedom in it. When we get clear on just a few things, life gets simpler and smaller and bigger at the same time. It expands as it shrinks when we settle into ourselves, bravely and honestly.
When we know our gypsy souls and tangled surrenders and/or their variations, we know all we may need to know.
When we know ourselves, we know the most important thing to know. And, the most difficult.
But, when we know it, we can claim it and be it and walk with it, with joy and love and peace, maybe to the moon.
I like to think this is so.
