The Kent Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Safety and Security Summit on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, bringing together local business leaders, law enforcement, and regional experts for an in-depth discussion on community safety.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Green River College Kent Station campus, will feature keynote speaker Carmen Best, former Seattle police chief and current NBC/MSNBC law enforcement analyst. Best is expected to share insights on the future of public safety and community-first strategies.

The summit also includes a panel discussion moderated by Carmen Goers, Government Affairs Chair for the Kent Chamber, and will include:

  • Raj Sidhu, cybersecurity professional with inTech Consulting LLC
  • Mark Jones, Deputy Chief at Puget Sound Fire
  • Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla

Local elected officials have also been invited to participate in the conversation.

“This is more than an event. It’s a chance to build relationships, ask the hard questions, and take action on the issues that matter most,” said Chamber CEO Zenovia Harris. “Our community is stronger when you’re in the room.”

The Chamber is providing lunch for attendees, and registration is encouraged for anyone interested in business safety, emergency preparedness, and community security.
