A 22-year-old Kent man was charged Wednesday, July 2 with first-degree murder for the deadly ambush-style shooting of Keivon C. Bias in Auburn on May 27, 2025.

Kyree-Brian Amar Jackson is accused of killing Bias with premeditated intent, according to charging documents filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The case alleges Jackson was one of several people who lay in wait for Bias near a home on SE 323rd Street before opening fire as he arrived in a vehicle.

Surveillance footage, witness accounts, forensic evidence, and cell phone data were used to tie Jackson to the shooting. Police recovered 52 shell casings from multiple firearms at the scene, including 9mm, .40 caliber, and 7.62mm rounds. Bias was struck multiple times and died at Harborview Medical Center after undergoing surgery.

In the probable cause statement, Auburn Police Detective Douglas Faini wrote:

“The murder was clearly premeditated as the shooters arrived before Keivon and ambushed him as soon as they saw him.”

Bias’ girlfriend, who was with him that night, told investigators they noticed a white Chrysler 300 parked oddly in the neighborhood before the shooting. That same vehicle was later linked to Jackson through surveillance video, ignition interlock device data, and phone records.

According to prosecutors, Jackson was on active Department of Corrections supervision at the time and has a history of violent offenses, including prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting.

Prosecutors requested bail be set at $5 million, citing Jackson’s risk of reoffending and potential flight.

An arraignment is scheduled for July 16 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. Jackson remains in custody.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
