A 28-year-old man wanted for first-degree arson in a domestic violence case was arrested Friday morning, Feb. 28, 2025 after a Kent police officer tracked him to his workplace.
Kent Police Officer Mandella was assigned to serve a Domestic Violence Temporary Protection Order at the suspect’s residence on East Hill but found he was not home. Further investigation revealed the man had a felony warrant out of King County for first-degree arson/domestic violence, with bail set at $100,000.
Determined to locate the suspect, Officer Mandella identified his place of employment and, with the assistance of fellow officers, contacted the business. Officers found the man inside and took him into custody without incident. He was then served his protection order and booked into King County Jail by Kent Police Officer Piek.
“Serving protection orders is a critical piece of the domestic violence criminal justice system,” police said in a statement. “Suspects often evade service, but with some creative investigation, we can usually find them.”
Kent Police encouraged victims of domestic violence to seek help and provided resources, including DAWN (Domestic Abuse Women’s Network) and information on filing for protection orders through the city’s website.
For immediate danger, authorities urge victims to call 911.
