A 20-year-old Kent woman died Thursday night, Aug. 15, 2024 after being struck by a vehicle in the 11100 block of Kent-Kangley Road SE (map below).

The tragic accident occurred around 10:40 p.m. Thursday night, when a Kent Police officer on routine patrol discovered the collision.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer was informed by dispatch that the driver involved in the accident had called to report the incident. The officer found the pedestrian unresponsive and immediately began chest compressions after failing to locate a pulse.

But sadly, despite life-saving efforts by medics who arrived shortly after, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Kent woman, has been cooperative with the investigation. Early evidence suggests the pedestrian may have been crossing the road outside of a designated crosswalk.

The Kent Police Traffic Unit is leading the investigation, collecting evidence and statements to understand the circumstances leading up to the accident.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
