A patrol officer in Kent apprehended a 29-year-old Burien man early Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 after a traffic stop revealed an outstanding $7,600 DUI warrant.
Police said that Officer T. Thomas observed a red sedan speeding on West Meeker Street near 64th Avenue South shortly after midnight.
As the officer followed, the driver attempted to evade by darting into an apartment parking lot, driving recklessly before re-entering the roadway.
Officer Thomas initiated a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over without further incident.
A routine records check revealed the driver had an active warrant stemming from a 2021 DUI arrest, also in Kent. He was taken into custody and booked into the Kent jail.
“We are thankful that at least this time the suspect was driving sober,” Kent Police said in a statement.
The warrant was issued after a 2021 incident in which the same driver was arrested for speeding through an apartment complex.
