Kent Patrol Officers arrested two men in their 20s on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2024. after a brief pursuit of a stolen BMW in downtown Kent.
The incident began around 2:50 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 2nd Ave South, responding to reports of individuals openly using drugs in a parking lot and refusing to leave.
As officers approached, an unlicensed BMW accelerated toward them before swerving onto the sidewalk and grass in an attempt to flee.
The vehicle was later confirmed to be stolen.
Officers initiated a pursuit through downtown, and one officer successfully executed a PIT maneuver to stop the car.
Once the vehicle was halted, officers pinned it in place with their patrol cars. Both suspects immediately fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by pursuing officers. The suspects, both Kent residents, now face multiple charges related to the stolen vehicle and other crimes committed during the incident.
