After a long standoff at a local motel on Tuesday, Jan. 30, Kent Police and Valley SWAT were able to safely capture a felony warrant suspect.
Kent Officers responded to a motel in the 22300 block of 84th Ave S. (map below), in regards to reports of a male who had a felony warrant for his arrest.
When Officers arrived, they recognized the suspect as he came to the window, but he refused to answer the door.
When Officers attempted to engage the suspect in negotiations, he retreated back into the room out of sight. Continued negotiations were attempted, but were met with no answer.
Some members of the Valley SWAT Team responded to the scene. Multiple attempts to make contact with the subject were met again with no response. A search warrant for the arrest of the suspect was applied for and granted. Negotiations were again attempted, but they were unable to gain cooperation.
“The team made entry into the motel room and took the 41-year old suspect into custody without injuries to citizens, Officers or the suspect,” Commander Jarod Kasner told iLoveKent.net.
