WHAT DO YOUTH AMBASSADORS DO?
We will select our 2019 Youth Ambassadors in February and immediately get you indoctrinated into our Norway Committee and start your preparation for your summer exchange.
In May, you will represent the Norway Committee at the Kent International Festival and help with our Norway booth. It’s a full day of FUN and FOOD that you will love.
At the beginning of July, the Norwegian Youth Ambassadors will arrive and stay with you for two weeks. This is your chance to show them all the great things about Kent and the Seattle area. For most of them, this will be their first visit to the United States, and they will be amazed at everything!
? Apply Today: https://www.kentwa.gov/home/showdocument?id=11539?
In mid-July, then all of you will return to Norway and you will live with your Norwegian host for two weeks. Norway is such a beautiful country and you will have a blast during your time there. Two weeks will fly by and then you will be begging to go back soon!
In November, you will give a presentation at Kent City Hall and discuss your Youth Ambassador experience and help promote the program and recruit new Youth Ambassadors for the following year.
You will make friends for life during this journey and get to experience things that most kids only dream of. You’re going to love it!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Most of the costs for this program are funded by the Norway Committee and all we ask is that you pay for half of your plane ticket to Norway (typically around $750 or so). You will host your Norway exchange student here in the U.S., and they will host you while in Norway, so essentially all lodging and food are covered. Of course, you will want to buy a few things while in Norway, so plan on having some extra spending money for souvenirs.
