On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin and linebacker Shaquem Griffin joined UnitedHealthcare leaders who unveiled new playground equipment at Park Orchard Elementary School in Kent.

The new equipment is specially designed to offer students an opportunity to enjoy and play on playground structures regardless of physical abilities.

“Shaquem and I are excited to be here on the presentation of this new playground equipment to kids at Park Orchard. It’s important that all kids, regardless of any physical challenges, have a chance to play and stay active. This new equipment will make sure that all of the kids at this school have that opportunity,” Shaquill said.

A $22,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare to the Kent School District funded the new playground equipment.

Park Orchard Elementary students and UnitedHealthcare of Washington CEO Claire Verity; Park Orchard Elementary School Principal Patrick O’Connor; Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin and cornerback Shaquill Griffin and other special guests cut the ribbon during a ceremony celebrating the school’s new accessible playground equipment on Oct. 30, 2018.
