A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2025, after colliding with a car on Kent Kangley Road, according to the Kent Police Department.
Police said the crash occurred around 12:27 p.m. in the 13300 block of SE Kent Kangley Road (map below), where witnesses reported the motorcycle traveling at high speed eastbound before striking the side of a red Toyota sedan.
When officers and firefighters from Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority arrived on scene, they found the male motorcyclist in critical condition.
First responders provided lifesaving aid before the rider was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further treatment.
The driver of the sedan, a 45-year-old Kent woman, was uninjured and remained at the scene. Police said she cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of impairment.
The Kent Police Traffic Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry to determine what led to the crash. Investigators are focusing on the role speed may have played.
The collision temporarily disrupted traffic in the area as emergency personnel responded and began their investigation.
